98-487 Student Taught Courses (StuCo): Intro to Adobe After Effects
3 units, Carnegie Mellon University
Intro to Adobe After Effects is a beginner-friendly course that provides a comprehensive overview of motion graphics and visual effects. Students will learn interface and workflow basics, keyframe animation, text and shape animation, compositing, and rendering. Through hands-on projects, they will create dynamic animated videos and build their first portfolio pieces. The midterm challenges students to produce a 20–30 second animated explainer video, while the final project allows them to design a polished, creative motion graphics piece of their choice. By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently use After Effects to create professional-quality animations for presentations, branding, and storytelling.
