98-409 Student Taught Courses (StuCo): Introduction to Rhythm Games
3 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course will serve as a both comprehensive and flexible introduction to rhythm games. Throughout the course, you will be exposed to more and more different rhythm games. As you play more and more, you could build your own skills in a wide variety of games, while learning to analyze and appreciate charts (“levels”) and the structure and artistry behind them. After we cover the basics of charting and the usage of charting tools, you will craft your own chart for the game you love the most! While class time will only be an hour a week, homework is emphasized as the most important learning time for students, as it allows you to both hone their skills and allow for exploration/exposure to more charts. By the end of the course, you will have the general skills to play a variety of games, understand charts on a deeper level, and be able to create original charts. This course has no prerequisites, just be interested and have fun!
