98-299 Student Taught Courses (StuCo): Making your First Indie Animation
3 units, Carnegie Mellon University
Animation, with all its nuts and bolts, can be an intimidating craft for beginners. Through this class, I hope to demolish that mental barrier-to-entry and get you started! Ever want to see your favorite manga character in motion? Have original characters you want to bring to life? Well, this is the class for you! Taught by a self-taught ex-beginner, this class aims to help animation enthusiasts and non-animator artists get started on their very first fully rendered piece of 2D, digital animation. Through a semester-long project, students will be taught basic skills required to navigate the 2D animation pipeline: world-building, character design, storyboarding, 2D animation, clean-up work, post-production and many more! There are no pre-requisites for this course, though pre-existing drawing skills and prior experience in digital illustration is recommended!
