This course will study one especially lively development in the discipline the recent rise of critical university studies. Well look at the many critiques of higher education, notably the conditions of academic labor, student debt, the corporatization of the university, the colonial heritage of the American university, and other topics youd like to examine. Well turn our critical skills on the ground beneath our feet, as it were, and examine issues confronting us in the university now.
