By focusing on miseenscene over thematics, onsite locations over studios, lesserknown actors over boxoffice idols, and small production teams over professional crews, these directors were able to turn lofi aesthetics and financial shortcomings into a radical new filmic style. Especially central here will be how forms of cinematic experimentation translated internationallyand how these approaches continue to challenge hegemonic forms of media culture.
