57-452 Collaborative Project in Music Entrepreneurship
6 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This semester, this course houses two exciting Music and Wellness projects that culminate in high-profile community events. You'll choose ONE project and work with your team toward completion. Section A: Sound Practitioner Training: A national expert in sound therapy, Monique Mead trains you to use sound to induce deeply relaxation, using evidence-based techniques on singing bowls and other easy-to-play instruments. With your Sound Practitioner Certification, you become eligible to lead the Scottie Sound Baths at CMU or use your skills elsewhere. This project culminates in a Mega Surround Sound Bath performance during the NFL Draft in April. Open to ALL students. No musical background needed. Section B: Sonic Plunge Technology meets transcendence in this project where we'll be designing a 15-minute multi-sensory installation that offers an interactive deep-dive relaxation experience, using trance-inducing sounds, images, scents, and haptics. This installation will be featured at CMU's SONA Immersive Storytelling Festival on April 2-4. Students in Music Tech, HCI, CS, Design, Art, MAM, and ETC are encouraged to register. Questions?
