54-701 Graduate Introduction to Screenwriting

This class will introduce students to the craft of screenwriting. Students will explore story structure through assigned readings both professional screenplays and selections from textbooks and will produce creative work on a regular basis. Students will gain experience in the form by participating in exercises, where they will practice proper formatting while learning to tell stories in a visual and dynamic way. As the students transition to writing their own complete original works, the class will operate in a workshop format with the overall goal being that each student leaves with a highlypolished, submissionready short screenplay.
