53-753 System Designs for Games and Life
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
Game Systems Designer is one of the most elusive and yet soughtafter titles in professional video game design. In this projectbased class, well approach systems design formally using practical tools and industry standard theory for systems design, holistically studying systems design broadly, including human social systems and systems theory for understanding ecosystems, and practically creating small portfoliobuilding projects that require effective system design. Idle games, spreadsheet games, and visual system representation will be focal points in course activities. Students will leave the class with an understanding of the day to day activities of a game systems designer and foundational theory for practicing system design and leverage point analysis on both game systems and systems in the world. This course will be held at the ETCSV location in Redwood City and is reserved for ETCSV students.
