53-683 Introduction to Level Design
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course is intended for game creators with serious aspirations toward professional 3D game development, giving practical experience in the tools, techniques, and philosophies of video game Level Design, often called "where the rubber hits the road" in game creation. Using the game engine Unreal for Fortnite (UEFN), students will individually create game levels using specific design constraints that model real-world professional game development environments and circumstances. Group critiques of in-development levels will take place throughout the semester, occasionally joined by guest designers from industry studios. By the end of semester you will have published two of your own game levels to Fortnite.com, ready to be discovered by players around the world.
