51-920 Research BY Designing II
6–12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This seminar examines approaches to conducting research through the practice of designing. Whilst designing is pragmatically oriented toward materializing change, the process of designing can generate insights into humans, material artifacts and environments, and the relation between them. Where the previous Research by Design seminar focused on the crafts of visual and material thinking, this Research by Design seminar focuses on the way designbased research has been deployed within technological and social innovation.
