51-918 Research FOR Designing II
6–12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This seminar examines research literature concerning social research methods and tools to establish the context for design interventions. The focus of this second iteration of Research FOR Design is interviewbased research, as opposed to the observational research that was the focus of the first. The emphasis falls on data collection and interpretive coding of intrusive qualitative research. The second half the course examines key texts reporting findings from design ethnomethodology and ethnography.
