51-631 Design Center: Design Thinking for Complex Systems
6 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course explores how to understand complex phenomena by creating models of interrelations between components. Students learn soft systems diagramming as well as the systems thinking associated with ecologies, integrative science and sociotechnical regimes. They are introduced to see design as a way of making interventions into leverage points in a system in order to transform its functions while considering the ethical implications of this.
