51-333 Design Center: Collaboration by Design
9 units, Carnegie Mellon University
In Collaboration by Design, well be working on improving the ways we collaborate. Through this hybrid seminarprojectbased studio, well explore ideas to improve collaboration in formal and informal contexts, along with intra, inter, multi, and transdisciplinary settings. Well be exploring how issues such as personal values and goals, intimacy and independence, team dynamics, constructive criticism, and others affect the way we work together. Students can expect reading assignments, class discussion, informal low stakes writing projects and presentations, and teambased exercises and projects in which we share and apply our learning and develop ideas. Note students taking this course will help set the topics and curricular trajectory for the course in collaboration with the instructor, so from day one well start the work of defining what well do, together.
