49-736 iii IoT and Smart Systems Core
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
IoT permeates our world, from the accessories we wear to how surgeries are performed to tracking the grapes in a vineyard for a perfect vintage. AI has an increasingly prominent role in these "things" and the data can affect how we perform our jobs, manage our finances, drive our cars, etc., as we live our lives alongside intelligent systems. This course explores the goals behind IoT design and the tools for AI development through lectures, case studies, discussions and hands on team-based projects. Students will be challenged to consider from multiple perspectives the tradeoffs, risks and rewards of creating new, innovative AI-enabled products and services.
