49-716 Experience Innovation
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
In this course, students spend the first half of the semester studying the nature of experience from a theoretical perspective. At the same time, students investigate and propose an experiencebased project they plan to explore, in selfselected teams, for the rest of the semester. Service and experience design frameworks are used as a means to analyze current offerings as well as to propose innovative new human experiences. Students learn to speak articulately about offerings that are made up of systems of products, services and other components and may be working in familiar and unfamiliar forms such as events, spaces, activities, scripts, processes, and software.
