49-702 Business Management Thinking and Practice
6 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course introduces students to basic business management concepts and provides the basis for students to make connections to more in depth content as it appears later in more advanced classes. The course covers six basic functional business areas: accounting, finance, marketing, operations, strategy, and managing technology & innovation. In addition to covering theory and applications, the course also uses a business simulation to help students to understand how the functional areas tie together. Students will work in teams in the class both for a collaboration experience and as a way of building connections between people with different educational background. About 50% of the work will be team assignments.
