This doctoral seminar examines how advances in machine learning, generative AI, and autonomous agents are transforming empirical and theoretical business research. We will explore the use of ML tools in prediction and analysis, the strategic and economic implications of AI adoption in firms, and the role of LLMs and agentic AI in shaping markets, productivity, and organizational design. Readings span empirical studies, economic models of AI, and recent work in computer science on LLMs. Students will engage critically with this emerging literature and develop original research ideas grounded in both technical and economic perspectives.
