6 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course introduces a human-centered approach to designing AI-powered products and experiences. We'll examine AI's capabilities and limits, and the design opportunities in user control versus automation, trust and explainability, and conversational and generative agents. The course is not about coding, but shaping AI into usable and strategically valuable products. Alongside lectures and discussions, you will design an AI-powered product—defining a human challenge, mastering UI/UX best practices, developing creative concepts, and prototyping in Figma.
