42-693 Special Topics in Integrated Systems Technology: Micro/Nano Biomedical Devices
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
Biomedical devices constantly call for innovations. Micronano fabrication not only miniaturizes devices and instruments, but also can enable new biomedical devices and significantly boost device performance. This course introduces fundamental micronano fabrication technologies and related materials of biomedical devices. The biomedical background and design principles of various biomedical devices will be presented. Both diagnostic and therapeutic devices will be discussed, including pointofcare diagnostic devices, biosensors, DNA sequencers, medical implants, prosthetic devices, drug delivery systems, medical robots, etc.
