42-674 Special Topics: Engineering for Survival: ICU Medicine
9 units, Carnegie Mellon University
Explore the world of Intensive Care Units (ICU) and Critical Care Medicine (CCM) with a highly experienced guide. This technology focused medical specialty cares for the sickest patients, the most complicated illnesses, with the highest risk of loss of life. Dr. Rosenbloom has taught many physicians-in-training in CCM and cares for these patients exclusively. While his main experience is in liver transplant patients, he has cared for a wide variety of other patients and illnesses as well. Teaching a mixture of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology combined with de-identified clinical case studies, he illustrates how ICUs really work. Guest speakers include physicians and advanced practice providers at the forefront of their fields. The course also includes advances in biomedical research that are, or will, revolutionize medical practice.
