27-504 Special Topics: Advanced Physical Metallurgy
9 units, Carnegie Mellon University
The purpose of this course is to develop a fundamental understanding of the evolution of microstructure in engineering alloys and how mechanical properties can be obtained by control of microstructure. The mechanical properties would include strength, toughness, fatigue and high temperature properties. The alloys to be covered would be steels, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, nickel base alloys and magnesium alloys
