19-422 Energy Systems in Transformation: Markets, Policy, and Change
3 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course will introduce students to 1. changes in the physical architecture of energy systems i.e., how energy production, transportation, and use are changing globally, 2. accompanying changes to how energy markets and regulations must change to meet the needs of these new architectures, and 3. needed energypolicy changes to achieve the needed changes in energy architectures. By the end of this course, students will be able to 1. explain the current physical design of energy systems, 2. explain historical regulation and policy that led to the development of todays energy systems, 3. explain how energy systems may evolve during the coming decades, and 4. explain how energy regulation, markets, and policy may evolve to meet the needed changes to future energy systems.
