16-704 Fundamentals of Mechatronics Design for Robotics
6 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of robotic hardware and mechatronic system design. Through hands-on labs and projects, students will design and analyze core subsystems such as electronic circuits, actuator control, and embedded microcontroller programming in C. Emphasis is placed on component selection, integration of sensing, actuation, and mechanical design for building robust, reproducible systems. Students will also gain experience debugging hardware, sourcing commercial components, and working collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams to develop deployable robotic systems.
