06-619 SpecialTopic: Asymptotic analysis & perturbation methods in engineering sciences
9 units, Carnegie Mellon University
This course will introduce students to asymptotic analysis and perturbation methods as powerful tools to analyze mathematical problems encountered in engineering sciences. An introduction to regular and singular perturbation methods will be presented. This will be followed by examples drawn from a wide range of scientific subjects, including fluid dynamics, electrochemistry, colloid science, catalysis, population dynamics, nonlinear oscillations, and wave propagation.
