04-732 User Experience Design
12 units, Carnegie Mellon University
With over 1 billion websites and 3 million mobile apps worldwide, creating applications that enhance user satisfaction and engagement is crucial for success. This course introduces students to the core principles of user experience (UX), from identifying user needs through research to developing and evaluating low- and high-fidelity prototypes using heuristics, formal evaluations, and usability testing. In the second half of the course, students will study how people see, hear, and think, and evidence-based principles for building usable and visually appealing interfaces. The course features lectures and individual and group design tasks, culminating in a group project that integrates user research, iterative prototyping, and user testing.
